100 Days, Comrade Soldier

Censored by the Russian government after obtaining funding by sending fake scripts to the studio, this controversial film wasn't shown internationally until four years later. It was a bold attempt to depict the lives of soldiers in training camps.

This Soviet film follows five Red Army recruits at a training camp in Central Russia. It has no narrative structure and, instead of telling a story, uses vignettes with minimal dialogue to expose the conditions under which Soviet army recruits lived.
